Prayers for an Ex Vampire

Steve hasn't been doing his blog because he has been in an induced coma since Monday, and is fighting for his life. He is a tough guy, and we know he can do this. But every prayer sent his way would be welcome.

We are waiting for his new bone marrow stem cells to create new white blood cells to fight the infection and fever that are challenging him now.

We were given a little hope today. His white blood cell count went from 200 yesterday to 300 Thursday morning, to 500 in the evening.

Keep thinking white. And hope.

Mary Beth Garber for Steve

  8. MB,
Jonathan Grossman here. My parents have been keeping me updated on Steve's condition and I have been following his website blog. Steve is one amazing person and he has fought so hard for so long, with you and Greg at his side. Your journey and how you have made it... it is truly a testament to how good, caring people can be there for each other to make life worth living. I firmly believe that if anybody can come through this stronger and healthier, it is Steve.
I will keep watching and praying and believing.
    love, Jonathan

  9. Steven,
You really have to recover to some sense of normalcy very soon, in order to help me restore some intelligence to my own brain. Forgetting that you've been posting this blog, I've been calling you these past few days to check in on how you're doing. Stoopid me!
So now that I know a little more, (please excuse me, any African Americans who may read this), .. .. .. C'MON WHITEY!!! We need those white cells. And in the mean time, until they've reached a satisfactory level, the depths of our thoughts go out to your recovery.
    Love, Terry and Gina
